Samuel Bayer is an award-winning visual artist, photographer, director and cinematographer, from New York City. Bayer moved to Hollywood in 1991 and launched his career with the decade-defining music video for “Smells Like Teen Spirit” for Nirvana, which MTV has consistently lauded as one of the most important and iconic videos of all time.

Since then, he’s showcased his landmark visuals and distinct editing style in music videos for icons like David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, and Maroon 5, winning Bayer several MTV Music Video Awards and a Kodak Lifetime Achievement Award. Bayer brought his unique visual touches to the small screen. His 2011 Super Bowl spot for Chrysler, “Born of Fire,” won him an Emmy and a Cannes Gold Lion. His commercials for Nike, Mercedes Benz, BMW, Pepsi, and Budweiser were awarded numerous Clios and Andys.

In the art world, Bayer’s one-man photography show was exhibited at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles in 2013 and selections of his films are displayed in the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. His feature film, “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” grossed over one hundred twenty million dollars worldwide.
